The Review: Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation

I'm not big on second chances when it comes to makeup, and I can tell from the first few uses if a product works for me or if it just wasn't meant to be. If I decide that something doesn't work, I usually give it away or it migrates to the back of my collection. However, when a bottle of foundation costs more than €40, I tend to be a little more forgiving when it comes to second chances. Last week I gave the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation a second chance, and I'm glad I did.

Now that my skin is in an overall much better shape, this foundation suddenly works for me. Where at first it was patchy, dull and sometimes even flaky, it now looks like a glowing evened out base. I wouldn't say it lives up to Bobbi Brown's claim that it looks just like skin, but better.

On properly moisturized skin it lasts a good six hours without powder. It will last about ten hours with powder, but that takes away from the luminosity of the finish. I do tend to use a light dust of bronzer with this one, because I still have a tiny bit of that Tunisian tan going on and I don't want my face to be three shades lighter than my chest.

Overall I would say that the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation is a good light to medium coverage base if you're looking for a lightweight product with luminous, radiant finish. I'd refrain from using this if you have really dry skin and don't take enough measures to exfoliate and hydrate. A good moisturizer under this is essential, else it will adhere to your dry spots and make them stick out like a sore thumb.

The Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation is available at all Bobbi Brown counters. The brand works with the 'perfect match' system, making sure the color will match your skin tone beautifully.

  1. I haven't tried this one but I love their new Luminous Moisturizing Treatment foundation. I'm pretty pale and 00 Alabaster is perfect for me :)
