The Recovery Facial

skin recovery

My skin is one of my biggest obsessions, and even though I took an abundance of skin care products on holiday, I still kind of let myself go. Wearing makeup every night but not doing a full cleanse, the constant application of sunscreen and the food that wasn't exactly an example of good, clean eating. Let's not forget the dessert table, you could find me there twice a day.

I'm paying the price for this as my skin has been playing up. It's a lot a less clear, spots have popped up on my chin and cheeks and my pores are clogged. Shock, horror. And that with the new semester just around the corner. To get my skin back in shape I grabbed three of my favorite face masks, popped in Sex and the City 2 and lusted over the fashion while having a pamper night with my mum.

We started with the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal mask to exfoliate skin and open up all those blocked pores. This mask uses fruit acids to get rid of dead skin cells and promote cell turnover, creating a fresh new surface with soft radiant skin. Leaving it with a good fifteen minutes before wiping off with a flannel or muslin cloth, and you're good to go for round two.

Then a deep cleanse is in order. Origins Clear Improvement mask does a great job cleaning out pores and bringing those nasty breakouts to the surface. The mask has active charcoal and ingredient that draws out dirt, oil and other grossness, leaving it clean and clear. It comes out in a thick black cream that spreads easily and doesn't drip. Leave it on your skin to fully dry, for me this took about twenty minutes before I washed it off with lukewarm water and a flannel.

Last but definitely not least is my often praised Origins Drink Up Intensive mask. This mask is a hydration miracle and leaves skin feeling lovely, plump and soft. Best part, you can smooth it on like any other cream and then be done with it. No timers and washing off, just let it sink in and go to bed. You'll wake up feeling lovely.

My three step facial has made sure that my lackluster spotty skin has cleared up over night to a clear and radiant complexion. Now all there is left to do is target a nasty spot underneath my lip and I'll be ready for the new semester. I'll be doing my three-step facial again before the end of the weekend.
