The Current Loves

My focus has been shifting  makeup to skin care over the last couple of months. I am investing in quality products and the abundance of colored powders, liquids and gels have been taking a back seat. I can't wait to get home at the end of my day and take off my makeup, in favor of taking it off right before bed. But I can never fully give up makeup, just because it has changed so much in my life and truly made it better. Here's a little edit of the things I have been loving at the moment.

Vichy Idéalia Life Serum - This serum is designed for the women who have a little too many excesses in their life. Think working long hours in air conditioned or heated offices, going to bed late and waking up too early. Or drinking alchohol and smoking cigarettes. Now, I quit smoking ages ago and I only drink two glasses of wine per month, but I go to bed at abysmal hours and get far too little sleep. The serum is supposed to aid the skin in recovering from those excesses and at the same time even it out and provide a gorgeous glow. I've been loving the short term effects of this serum. My skin is smoothed out and glowing and it smells fantastic as well.

Hydraluron Moisture Booster - Raved about by many, many bloggers, including the wonderful Caroline Hirons, who if you still don't know who she is, is an absolute skincare goddess. It acts as a magnet between your skin and your moisturizer (day or night) and just sucks in all the good stuff from it. In just a few short weeks of using it my skin has plumped up and deals with stress factor better. Spots fade quicker and my skin just has a better look to it. Hydraluron, I love you.

Boots Botanics Hot Cloth Cleansing Balm - I've often spent time on feelunique.com staring at the Emma Hardie cleansing balm, but there was something about it keeping me from clicking that gratifying 'buy now' button. I needed to be sure of using a balm cleanser before I dished out a whopping forty-two euros on one. When I came across this in my local Boots pharmacy I did a little double take at the price tag, only a tenner? I checked out some quick reviews and decided to take the plunge. So far I am loving cleaning my face with a balm. The texture is quite gritty at first but it transforms into a smooth soft oil that soaks off makeup and rids skin of any grime. After removing the cleanser with the muslin cloth that comes with, or a regular flannel if the cloth's in the wash, my skin feels clean but super smooth and hydrated. Not stripped and squeaky at all. I think I might be sold on the balm cleansers.

Catrice Defining Blush in Love and Peach - As much as skincare is important to me, makeup can never truly be eradicated. I will always have a great love for drugstore makeup products that are amazing in performance and even better in price. Catrice is one of those brands that constantly delivers great products. The defining blushes have a great range of colors that will get you many pretty makeup looks. This color, Love and Peach, is really natural and soft and gives the loveliest 'flush' to the cheeks. I apply it with a Zoeva luxe cheek brush, which gives it a velvety soft finish.
