The Best Dressed at The 2015 Critics Choice Awards

Critics Choice Awards Best Dressed 1

Critics Choice Awards Best Dressed 2

Another awards show, another best dressed post. I can't help it, I love pretty dresses and I love writing about them. So without further ado let's jump right into the top eight dresses worn at the 2015 Critics Choice Awards.

1. Angelina Jolie, she looks like she's one of the statues being handed out that evening. Shiny fabric hardly ever works on people, but damn Angie is pulling it off. Besides the fabric and colour I'm also a big fan of the cut. Very regal.
2. Leslie Mann, she did it again. Leslie looks fresh and sweet in this beaded number. The length is just perfect and the colour works lovely with her skin.
3. Diane Kruger, all over print is quite a daring thing to do (especially when the colour of your print is the same as the carpet) but Diane knows how to work daring thing. The strapless dress looks gorgeous on her tall frame.
4. Emily Blunt, I'm never a big fan of halter dresses, but the one Emily is wearing looks great. The different textures on this red dress are incredibly interesting and she looks gorgeous wearing it.

5. Julianne Moore, plunging neckline the conservative way. But it works. Dresses with long sleeves always deserve a plus in my book, and Julianne Moore looks great in this black one.
6. Brooke Anderson, I'll be honest I had to a little Google search to find out who she is, but that doesn't take away from the fact that she wore a gorgeous dress. The colours and the print work perfectly and it's nice seeing a fuller dress on the carpet again.
7. Amy Adams, can anyone tell me what colour this dress is? Because I can't find a way to appropriately describe it. It's incredibly gorgeous. The length is perfect on Amy and her hair and makeup are perfect and glamorous.
8. Felicity Jones, this girl has come a long way since I first saw her acting in 'Chalet Girl' (can I get a mmm for Ed Westwick in that flick?). She's getting countless nods this awards season and with right because The Theory of Everything is a brilliant film. This dress is lovely. I like how she sticks to a certain different style. She always sticks out from the rest of the attendees, and in this case it pays off.

The Best Dressed at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards

Best Dressed Golden Globes 2015 White

Best Dressed Golden Globes 2015 Colour and Suits

It's here! Admittedly, I'm not the biggest fan of the first month of the year. False resolutions, overcrowded gyms, stores filled with the leftovers from the party season.. Okay maybe the sales aren't that bad. But there is one thing about January that I love, the start of Awards season. Last weekend the Golden Globes happened, the kickoff for a few weekends where Hollywood pulls out all the stops and shows itself from its most glamorous side.

I'm a sucker for pretty dresses and I searched through all the pictures and came up with my eight favourite outfits worn last weekend at the 2015 Golden Globes.

1. Sienna Miller, she recently claimed she had lost her sense of style but this gorgeous boho dress paired with perfect messy waves surely proves different.
2. Reese Witherspoon, ooh shiney. This look just oozes old Hollywood glamour to me.
3. Rosamund Pike, the Gone Girl star wore an amazing white dress (are you beginning to see a theme here?) with lovely thin straps. I really like thin straps.
4.Anna Faris, this was the biggest shock to me. I'm not used to seeing her bringing her A game to the red carpet. But this gorgeous embroidered dress is perfect and she hit the nail on the head.

5. Emma Stone, I like breaking tradition and when Emma stepped out in this Lanvin outfit she definitely broke tradition. Although I do have to add that I probably would have loved it even more if she got rid of the ass-cape.
6. Leslie Mann, if you can rock yellow, do it. The shape and colour of this dress are spot on and I really liked how she paired her hair and makeup with this look.
7. Kelly Osbourne, my namesake has been doing so many awesome things with fashion. I love her slightly edgy style. Navy is one of my favourite shades and it goes lovely with her purple hair.
8. Lorde, Oh lord, I hated her makeup. There, I said it. To me that lipstick is all wrong. But boy do I love her clothing. A good blazer is always on point, paired with the bralet and the palazzo pant she really had the 'I'm an edgy pop star'-look down. But she should have just gone for a nude lip in my opinion.

Images property of Ante Memoria

I'm a firm believer in the gospel of 'you can never have too many bags'. I often clear out my wardrobe and toss away countless shirts and shoes, but somehow I hardly ever part ways with bags. A couple of days ago I was wasting away some time on Twitter when I followed a link to a new website called Ante Memoria. It's safe to say I was sold instantly I fell in love with everything on the website.

Maybe it's because of the minimalist approach to everyday bags, the fact that I have a weakness for anything handheld or that the items  look luxurious and simple at the same time. I want them all. I especially love the shearling clutch. It looks super cosy, and I'm voting it as one of the best accessories to carry around with you during fall and winter.

Ante Memoria is founded by Jessica Wakeman. She designs the bags herself and my favorite part... she hand makes them to order. So you know that if you order one of her products you'll have a gorgeous unique piece that can be integrated into your wardrobe in so many ways.

I'm just waiting for payday to arrive so I can finally add one of these beauties to my ever growing collection.

You can visit the Ante Memoria store here.

The Handbag Staples

The Handbag Staples

The Handbag Staples Squared

Call me curious, but among all of the blog-o-sphere 'what's in my bag'-posts are probably my favorite type of posts. There is something about knowing what your favorite internet people are carrying around every single day, to see what their must-have items are and maybe find out that you have some things in common. But when I thought about it I realized that because of my love of bags I hardly ever wear the same bag more than a couple days in a row.

My choice of handbag depends on where I'm going that day, what I need to carry with me and whether or not it matches my outfit (although with my predominantly black and white wardrobe that never really poses a problem). I thought it would be better to show you my handbag staples. The items that move from bag to bag, whether it's a clutch on a night out or my massive Zara laptop bag. These are my every day staples.

Pink phone case/wallet - this feminine pink wallet also has a spot that holds and protects my phone. This has my paper money in and my most used cards.

iPhone 5S/headphones - I use an iPhone and even with the massive leaking of celebrity nudes, the new phones bending when you put them in your pocket and the general overprized nature of the brand, I still love it, The OS is super easy to manage and all the awesome apps come out for iPhone. Plus the camera on this thing is amazing and lifestyle posts would not happen without this thing. I'm always listening to music when I'm travelling somewhere, so the iPhone headphones are an absolute must.

Coin purse/card holder - my wallet doubles as a phone case and that causes it to lack in storage space for my cards and change. So my old H&M snakeskin purse now functions as extra storage holding the multitude of loyalty cards and stamp cards for my near daily coffee runs.

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm - the ultimate quick fix for tired lackluster skins. It hydrates instantly and it smells divine. I seriously believe everybody should own this.

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector - a lipgloss that feels like a balm, leaves a gorgeous light color on your lips with a beautiful sheen. No glitter to be found, anywhere.

RMS Beauty Living Luminzer - this stuff is the product of angels, I am sure of it. The incredibly gorgeous shine this provides is enough to lift any complexion. I pat this on my face wherever I need it during the day. But most in the inner corners of my eyes, my cheekbones and my cupid's bow. I don't want to live in a world without this gorgeous stuff.

Chanel Les Beiges powder - the powder that is normally a little too dark for me but with my summer skin still lingering it's just the right thing to warm up my complexion. It gives a very perfecting view to the skin, almost as if it was airbrushed. I also love this because the compact comes with a fairly large mirror. And I feel very fancy whipping this out in public.

Zara Roller-ball Perfume - it's small, it's easy to carry around and it smells divine. The Zara 11, Corse Vittoria Emanuele Milano (jeez, what a mouthful) is a lovely feminine scent. It's very sweet and flowery and just up my alley.

And there they are, my handbag staples. Not too many yet there is quite the post dedicated to them. I'm curious, what do you like to carry around on a daily basis?

The New Frames

Burberry Eyewear 1

Burberry Eyewear

Ever walked into a store, looked at a display and just thought ‘I need to have that’? About two months ago I went into my favorite optical boutique to readjust my old glasses and promptly fell in love with some new frames. I couldn’t get them out of my head and after some of my usual reasoning I was convinced that I absolutlely needed some new glasses. Call it a style reboot.

The new frames are by Burberry and they are so lovely. They’re really light, which is always nice when it comes to larger glasses. I’m nearsighted and have quite a strong prescription, but my optician managed to fit my thick glasses into the thin frame beautifully, I’m so happy with them.

The model number is BE 2128 and I have the shade pink, although I definitely think it is more of a blush beige type of shade.

They’re quite different from what I usually wear, for I have always worn black or tortoise frames. These are much softer and more feminine in my face. I think they make me look a little more mature, and I feel like I needed that. A lot of things have changed in my life recently and sometimes you just need to take some time and reboot. Start over fresh with a blank page.

Oh and I dyed my hair bright red as well.

The Clutch That Spells My Life Right Now

Zara Stressed But Well Dressed clutch 01

Zara Stressed But Well Dressed clutch 02

Fashion is one of the biggest parts of my life, and with all the troubles with my knee it's kind of being put on the back burner. After having lunch with a great friend yesterday we walked passed Zara on our way to the car and I saw this clutch in the arms of a mannequin. And, I fell in love.

Crisp white, slightly oversized, just the way I like it. And besides it's nice design, the quote pictured on top of it sealed the deal for me. I had to have it. Luckily there were still many inside and I picked it up. This quote pretty much rules my life at the moment. I am swamped in work and incredibly stressed out about my upcoming surgery.

It's the perfect accessory, holds all my essentials and turns any outfit into a cool look. It's going to go so well with spring time outfits, and I can't wait to wear it out to fun occassions. After my surgery of course, which will be happening this Wednesday.

Available in Zara right now

The Whistles Splurge

Whistles bags

Whistles bags 02

I have a confession to make. I spend way too much money on things I really don't need. And lately that problem has shifted towards more high end products. Whether it is makeup, shoes or in this case, clutches. I splurged and got myself not one, but two Whistles clutches. Described by many as the perfect every day pouches, very suitable for keeping makeup and essentials when you're on the go. To me they looked like the ideal every day accessory. Minimal and functional, yet easily mixed and matched with my predominantly black and white wardrobe.

As a birthday gift to myself (yes I know I bought myself a lot of presents) I bought a Whistles leather croc clutch as a high quality makeup bag that I wouldn't just use once and then toss on the ever growing pile. And when it was delivered the next day, I fell in love. The quality is amazing, it's sturdy and incredibly pretty. I store my everyday makeup essentials in here when I am away from the house and sometimes I even take it out with me to evening and use it as a small clutch.

But of course, I wasn't satisfied yet. I saw the gorgeous navy patent pouch that Suzie from Hello October has. I think I fell for it when I saw it on her blog for the first time. And I postponed it for a while, but eventually I bit the bullet and went searching for it myself. Luckily there's a large department store in the Netherlands that started carrying the brand last November. Instead of just going for the clutch I got the Rivington navy blue metallic chain bag. The metallic blue is the perfect off set to my all black outfits, and I have been using it as a simple bag during the day. When I just have a meeting, am running errands or just popping into town for a quick browse of the shops.

When looking for the links to the latter bag I realized that it was difficult to find. And when I did find it, I saw that I already purchased it at a fifty euro discount. I think I can safely say that this one is disappearing from the collection. Which is sad, because it's gorgeous and all people deserve a lovely simple bag like this, but I do like that I got it at fifty euros off. I don't think I could've gotten it across my chest if it was over a hundred euros.

I am so happy with my Whistles clutches.
But I do need to promise myself that I won't buy any bags for at least a few months.

The What's In My Bag Edit

What's In My Bag 01

BoyBag

What's In My Bag 02

If you were to take a look at the inspiration folder I have on my iPad you'd probably find about twenty-five percent of the pictures in there to be of really fashionable women carrying around a Chanel Boy bag. If I ever win that lottery, the bag will probably be the first thing I purchase. But until that time rolls around I treated myself to a surprisingly good lookalike.

I try to decrease the size of the bag I tote around everyday. I have a Zara office city bag that I use mostly for school, but in the past it was also used for everyday usage. This was basically a Mary Poppins style bag. Things got seriously lost in there.

When I saw this bag on Come Get Fashion I fell in love. The size is absolutely perfect and it looks just like the Chanel Boy. It's been on my shoulder for about a week and I adore it more and more everyday. It doesn't fit a ton of stuff, which prevents me from bringing way too much unnecessary stuff. All the things I bring on a daily basis are pictured below. Just a little extra note, I forgot to add my lip balm to the picture. But that's the Tromborg Lip Cure.

Trust me, I don't wear faux fur this often. It just so happens to be that the two times me and Mike shot outfit pictures I was wearing a faux fur item. This grey jacket has been hanging in my closet since October but I hadn't worn it out until now. Because this jacket is such a statement on its own, I like keeping everything else relatively simple.

I picked up this amazing shirt from Mango in the sale and I can think of so many ways to wear it. I'm sure you'll be seeing this on here more than a few times. The riding pants from Zara were also from the sale. I own a couple of this style but the subtle leather lining down the side of the leg are what sold me on this particular pair.

The Much Needed Color Injection Wishlist

Color Injection wishlist

With so many blog posts going around about detoxing your life and rethinking your wardrobe for the new year I felt the need to go to my closet and rethink it. I ended up throwing out quite a few items and was shocked at how little color was left in my closet. My shelves and hangers are filled with black, white and grey. While making it extremely easy to get dressed in the morning, it's also a little boring.

I want to add a bit more color to my life. Doing this by investing into quality pieces with a great statement color will also give me an incentive to wear them more often. I do the whole cost per wear thing, anyone else do this? I have some surprisingly low numbers hanging on my rail.

Above is a selection of items from high street fashion chains from the likes of H&M, Topschop, River Island and Missguided. Proving it can be done to get beautiful and chic pieces at the fraction of the designer pricetag. I'm particularly digging the yellow coat from H&M and the pvc skirt from Missguided.

The first outfit of the new year, and also the first outfit shot with my new lens, and I love the effect this gives to my photograps. Mike made it clear that he likes helping me with these kind of posts so I hope that during this year we can start adding a lot more fashion to my blog.

I'm wearing one of my go to outfits. All black is just incredibly easy to move around in and you never really look out of place. The faux fur gilet is just a little extra thing to add an injection of chic. The heels I am wearing are my current favorite pair. It closes up a little higher on the foot, which actually makes them much easier to walk in.

The New Years Eve Outfit Edit

Menswear

New Years Eve wouldn't be the New Years Eve without a little sparkle. Whether it is through small sulfur sticks that you wave around in the air or through glitter leggings, it needs at least a little sparkle. I'm wearing a slightly different take on this look for a party with friends.

The LBD

Can you ever go wrong with a little black dress? This black number is from H&M and is super sexy with it's lingerie inspired style. Some warm cover up in the form of a cropped faux fur will look incredibly chic, pair it with some strappy heels and an geometric bag and you will be at the top of the best dressed list.

ComfyYetSophisticated
Jumpsuits are the best things since pyjamas, seriously. Although a little tricky when you need to use the bathroom. A long sleeve jumpsuit is a statement all on its own so you don't need a lot of extra adornment in the form of jackets and overpowering jewelry. A simple long necklace with a precious stone will look great hanging on your chest. Keep the shoes simple but chic and you can pretty much pair this with every bag you own.

As this is the last post of 2013 I want to wish everyone a wonderful New Years Eve. May your nights be merry and amazing and full of love. I hope 2014 will be a great year for every single one of you.

The Ultime Winter Wardrobe

Winter Coats

Scarves

Hats and earmuffs

gloves and mittens

Winter is probably my least favorite season of them all. I really don't like cold weather and while snow looks nice when it falls fresh out of the sky, it's a nightmare to commute through. And then there is the added difficulty of trying to look cute with six hundred layers on. Thankfully there are tons of shops that do amazing winter items that will keep you warm and looking fabulous at the same time.

I put together an edit of the ultimate winter wardrobe. My favorite materials being tweed, leather and faux fur. These materials just feel and look luxurious and luckily there are enough high street clothing chains that keep the trend semi-affordable. Because face it, a $9000 Marc Jacobs coat isn't in the cards for most of us.

The Copenhagen Haul

Haultoper

Gina Tricot Sweater

Copenhagen was a fantastic whirlwind experience. Doing a world city in just nine hours is a challenge, but I guess it was a succes. I had fun and had a great time with one of my best friends. The Copenhagen photo diary will be up tomorrow, but for today I have a little roundup of what I purchased in this beautiful Scandinavian city.

This city has the longest pedestrian street in Europe, from start to finish filled with gorgeous shops, sounds like a dream for a shop-happy girl like me. When we first arrived in Copenhagen we walked up the street and took in what it all had to offer. I noticed a couple of stores I've heard quite a bit about but never had been able to see in person, like Topshop and Gina Tricot.
