Day 11: Polka Dots

Polka dots! Oh lordy, I love these nails. The blue is just fantastic, so glad I picked that one up last week. It's pretty and vibrant and not boring at all. Normally I don't enjoy these type of colors on my nails. I'm a neutrals, reds and pinks kind of girl. Bright blue or yellow isn't something I would wear on its own. But in a design like this I am really pleased with them.

First I just added the white dots because I thought that would make a nice contrast yet be just as vibrant. But I thought it lacked something and just spotted the blue jelly polish sitting abandoned in the back of my nail polish drawer. So I added the smaller blue dots inside the white ones. And I just love these dotted nails. They kind of resemble little eyes, don't you think? But not in a scary, creepy way.

I can't stop looking at my phalanges. And I am slightly heartbroken that I have to swap out this design for a striped design tomorrow.

Day 5: Blue

Day 5, blue! Today I did an ombre look. Instead of using five different colors I mixed four out of one bottle. The nail on my middle finger is painted with Catrice All I Can Blue, the darker nails are respectively mixed with one and the other two drips of black nail polish. Same goes for the lighter nails, only I needed about three drops to get the second to lightest colour and two more to get the lightest shade.

I think ombre nails are a very simple yet cute way to do your nails. Anyone can do it, you just need a base color and white and black polish and you're good to go. Extra brushes are pretty handy as well so you don't bleed your created colors into the original bottle.

This look was made because I felt a bit guilty for paying so much money on my new INGLOT palette, and I really wanted to see the result of using these shadows on myself. So I created a quick, interesting blue and black smokey eye. And I really like the look? What about you?

What does a young woman do when she wants light blue nails, but realises that... *shock horror* this nail polish addict does in fact not own a light blue nailpolish. How convenient, the nail polish addict does own a bright blue and a white polish.

Mix ALL the polish! This gorgeous color was mixed using Blue My Mind from H&M and Snow Motion! from Catrice. I also used a matte topcoat.

But then, I got bored. I wanted something else. A girl needs glitter in her life, right?! Cue the application of a clear coat, tipping a bottle of glitter all over the table and floor, then slowly tapping a little glitter over that freshly painted ring finger nail, and apply another layer of clear polish to seal the glitter.

Et voila! A tres chic manicure.

PS: This works with different polishes and color glitters as well! I'm going to the craft store soon to pick up a few extra colors. Or ebay. Ebay is a scary place. So long, chicks!
